Workers’ strike cuts Coal India’s output by 56pc

India’s state-controlled coal mining frm Coal India (CIL) lost 56pc of its output during a recent workers’ strike, which end- ed on 4 July. But the rest of the output was achieved because more than one third of the workers turned up for work. Sales to the company’s customers fell by 62pc over the three-day strike, data from CIL’s statement to the stock ex- changes show.
