Some Japanese buyers have settled their July-September cif Japan aluminium premium at around $79/t over London Metal Exchange (LME) prices with an overseas producer, lower from the previous quarter, refecting continued weakness in the country’s aluminium demand. The premium compares with ofers of $85/t made for July- September and the $82/t premium over the LME cash price for April-June. The premium declined for a fourth straight quarter as Japanese aluminium demand remained pressured by weak manufacturing activity.
