LDV T60 LUXE MEGA TUB

Chinese brand LDV Automotive has launched a stretched version of its T60 dual cab ute, dubbed the Mega Tub, which boasts one of the longest wheelbases and tubs in its class. Only available on the twin cab with a pick-up body style, and based on the higher-end Luxe model grade, the T60 Mega Tub is positioned just $1,500 upstream of the standard-wheelbase version and comes with the choice of a six-speed manual or six-speed automatic transmission on the familiar 2.8L turbo-diesel engine that produces 110kW of power at 3,400rpm and 360Nm of torque from 1,600-2,800rpm. The auto adds $2,000 onto the bottom line, while 'Mega Tub' status adds 315mm onto the wheelbase length, pushing it out from 3,155mm to 3,470mm. An extra 275mm is added to the regular tray length, taking it to 1,800mm, which, as LDV is quick to note, allows a typical 6" tradie ladder to fit neatly into the tub. The T60 Mega Tub comes standard with a bed liner, while hard lids and roller tops are also being developed for the new model. The vehicle is built on the same production line in China as the regular T60, with LDV Australia emphasising that the auto-maker - a division of the gigantic SAIC Motor - has made "significant investments to ensure the research and development, and production line capability, were in place to build both variants concurrently". Preliminary specifications do not show specific details such as the Mega Tub's carrying capacity, but the 875/815kg (manual/auto) payload appears to hold firm, as does its 3,000kg braked towing capacity. As with all other models, the five-year/130,000km factory warranty with roadside assistance also applies.
