摘要

Distribution of the today giant hydrocarbon reserves in the world is associated with the tectonic type of the sedimentary basins and their fill. In this paper, the relation between the tectonics, paleogeography, stratigraphy, eustatic sea-level changes and petroleum systems of the Neo-Tethys in the Zagros fold-thrust belt and foreland basin are reviewed. This information provides a better understanding of the basin architecture, regional sedimentation patterns, and the controls on hydrocarbon accumulations.
