Interview: Happy 80th Birthday Prof.Wilhelm Kufferath von Kendenich

Prof.Dr.Wilhelm Kufferath von Kendenich had an extensive and versatile career.His favourite subjects in high school were Physics,Latin and Philosophy.By the age of fourteen,he already worked as locksmith and weaver in his family's wire factory Andreas Kufferath KG in Diiren/Germany.After finishing his studies of mechanical engineering and economics at the Graz University of Technology in Austria,he started to work as General Manager in his family's company in 1962.During his time in the family business,he developed forming fabrics for the wet end of paper machines and dandy rolls as alternative to twin wire systems of paper machines.Afterwards,he moved on to started Swiss Wire Company for synthetic fabrics in 1969.Due to his know-how,he was able to do a lot of presentations between 1962 and 1990 about the formation process of paper machines and how to use the right forming fabric in this respect.In addition,he held courses at the Graz University of Technology and TU Darmstadt,Germany.
