Castle Hill RSL goes green with co-and trigeneration

In early September 2013,Castle Hill RSL's new trigeneration system was officially launched.The Club,located in north-west Sydney,NSW,is set to save $250,000 a year in energy costs.Designed,supplied,installed and maintained by Simons Green Energy,the trigeneration system will produce enough electricity to power the club,as well as turning the waste heat into useful heating and cooling,thereby saving on energy costs and cutting carbon emissions.Castle Hill RSL Club obtained $495,500 in grant funding from the Community Energy Efficiency Program(CEEP)and Simons Green Energy has assisted the Club in complying with the marketing,communications,and emissions reporting required under the program.Several seminars for industry and the local community have been hosted by the Club and Simons,to raise awareness about the Club's commitment towards sustainability and its benefits for the broader community and for the environment.The 378 kilowatt(kW)trigeneration system will deliver a payback period of just 2.5 years.
