During the summer of 2018,one of the nation's largest electronics processors and ITAD firms unexpectedly shuttered and then had its assets divided up through bankruptcy court.The process has shed light on the troubled company's final financial details,and it has highlighted the complexities that occur when a prominent materials handler closes its doors.ECS Refining closed at the end of June after filing for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in April.ECS operated three sites in California,two in Oregon and one each in Arkansas,Ohio and Texas.Two of its processing facilities-in Mesquite,Texas and Stockton,Calif,-were among the largest in the e-scrap industry.ECS's estate is being managed by Nevada-based Donald Gieseke,a trustee appointed by U.S.Bankruptcy Court for the Eastern District of California.And the company's assets are being dealt with in a number of ways.
