An Improved TCP Congestion Control Technique for Wired/Wireless Networks

摘要

TCP is a reliable transmission protocol. There are various congestion algorithms introduced to improve performance of the Internet network. In this paper, modifications are proposed to the Westwood TCP congestion algorithm so that its performance is enhanced. TCP Westwood (TCPW) is a sender-side modification of the TCP congestion window algorithm that improves upon the performance of TCP Reno in wired as well as wireless networks. Some statistical counters are used for RTT measurement to check the congestion occurrence or packet transmission error in wireless network. We need to test our proposed algorithm using the Network Simulator version-2 (ns-2). Moreover, the algorithm is end-to-end in nature and modifies only TCP sender's algorithm.
