A Survey on Patient Satisfaction Following Dental Implant Therapy in College of Dentistry-Al Jouf University

Background: A retrospective study was conducted to determine the subjective feelings of patients about present implant therapy and the prostheses as compared with pretreatment conditions. Materials and Methods: The patients were questioned about the satisfaction of the treatment, the facilities available in the clinic, about their appearance, functional ability and overall satisfaction. Results: Of the 100 patients approached, 82 responded 68 (82.92%) were males and 14 (17.07%) were females. The patients were divided into two age groups of the 82 respondents, 34 (41.46%) were upto age of 45 years and 48 (58.53%) were above the age of 45 years. Conclusion: Majority of the patients were very happy with the treatment outcome and significant improvement in overall dental health. Replacement of missing teeth with implants has become a substantial and established treatment modality these days. This is mainly because the survival and intraoral service of implants are high and which has led a wide spread acceptance among the patients population. The success of implants depends not only on appropriate treatment planning, prosthodontically driven surgical placement, functionally compatible oral prosthesis but also on satisfaction level and acceptance from the patients point of view. Patients have an equally important role in the success or failure of any prosthesis as a well-prepared restoration may fail if it's not up to the expectations and satisfaction level of the patient.
