Investigation on Micro-Forming Behavior with Laser-Assisted Heating

摘要

Increasing demands of the micro-parts in MEMS lead to the increase interests of micro-forming. To solve the forming difficulty occurring in the micro-bending micro-parts made of hard-to-deform material, a novel approach about micro plastic forming based on laser-assisted heating has been presented. In this paper, several numerical simulations were completed and analyzed using a FEM code, ABAQUS. The temperature field distributions, the stress and strain distributions have been studied. The results revealed that a satisfied temperature field for micro-bending can be established using the laser-assisted heating method. It found that the maximum punch force and the yield strength at the forming area of the sheet can be reduced, and the formability of micro-bending material can be improved.
