Intrusion Detection System (IDS) using Lightweight Agent for Wireless Networks

Wireless Networks has gained tremendous growth due to its low cost and relative ease of the use. Security management is thus a challenging issue in wireless networks. But with the system vulnerability assessment and intrusion detection, security module is also gaining equal attention. Loopholes of security methods like cryptography and firewalls leads to the use of more complex security systems like Intrusion Detection Systems (IDS). To implement WIDS, lightweight agent is also one of the methods which detect the most serious attacks like DoS and Man-in-the-middle in wireless networks. A Lightweight agent system provides more simplicity with high performance and accuracy by providing the data set using open-source attack generator software setup. It distinguishes the abnormal traffic and attacks on the WLAN. Complete attack prevention is not really true. The data set collected is tested on different types of attacks. Selecting of an effective and appropriate method for Intrusion Detection should consider its performance and functional parameters Lightweight method for Wireless IDS covers more attack types than other existing methods.
