In this paper, the elastic stresses and strains in the filleted shafts subjected to uniaxial tension are systematically investigated using the finite element method. The stress concentration factor and strain concentration factor are different on the fillet surface even though the material is in the elastic state. Poisson's ratio can have a significant effect on the stress and stain concentrations. The relations of stress concentration and strain concentration are obtained for stress concentration region in cylindrical coordinates and in the form of the principal stresses. The relations of the stress and strain concentration factors with the fillet radius are analyzed.
