摘要

This study was carried out in the Plant Virology laboratory of the Department of Plant Protection at the College of Agriculture, University of Karbala, in order to isolate and djagnose eight isolates of Rhizoctonia solani isolated from the imported Iranian potato tubers and available in the local markets in Najaf and Karbala governorates. These fungal isolates were identified using the polymerase chain reaction (PCR) technique and determining the nucleotide sequences of the amplified-PCR products using the primer pair ITS 1 and ITS4. The results of analysis of the nucleotide sequences of the PCR products using the Basic Local Alignment Search Tool (BLAST) showed that all fungal isolates identified in this study belong to the fungus R. solani. As observed by comparing the nucleotide sequences of the identified isolates, it was found a genetic variation between them and the other isolates belonging to the same fungus and registered in the National Center for Biotechnology Infonnation (NCBI). The results also showed that eight isolates among theR. solani isolates were previously unregistered in NCBI, therefore these identified isolates have been deposited and recorded in GenBank database (NCBI) under the accession numbers: MH520067, MH520068, MH520069, MH520070, MH520071, MH520072, MH520073 and MH520074.
