The paper attempts to empirically tackle and measure the impacts of the EU landing obligation (LO) on the supply side of the fishery markets, with an application in Catalonia. The paper main objectives are twofold: (1) using a simple pure economic (anot bio-economic) model that explains production choices and highlights key variables that might be directly and indirectly affected by the LO; (2) producing estimates (3SLS estimation of simultaneous systems of production and supply functions) that maybe a useful tool for prediction and policy analysis. Selected results show that given a LO induced 20% increase in HKE (hake) average price, the impact on HKE supplied quantity equals a 2,96% decrease. In addition, given a LO induced 10% increase on theaverage engine power needed to fish HKE the impact on HKE supplied quantity is a 49,5% decrease.
