摘要

This paper presents an experimental study of the compressive behavior of high-strength concrete confined by normal- and high-strength lateral ties under monotonically increasing concentric loading. Ten specimens with 200 mm x 200 mm square cross section and 600 mm in height were tested. The influences of key variables such as the volumetric ratio, yield strength, configuration, and spacing of the tie on the compressive behavior were studied. The results showed that increasing volumetric ratio of the tie significantly enhances the strength and ductility of the confined concrete. The tie volumetric ratio is the most important beneficial effect of the confined concrete. An increasing of the tie yield strength would result in an enhancement of the effect of confinement.
