摘要

Production process and technology practiced in brass/bronze utensils manufacturing units of Jharkhand is age old and the modern technological developments have not been incorporated due to financial limitations. The old and undeveloped production process is aggravated by high proportion of rejection & wastage of utensils resulting in low productivity. This aspect is never analyzes in such units. Therefore, there is a need to analyze and identify appropriate causes of high rejection & wastage, and to eliminate or minimize these causes to improve quality and hence productivity and value addition. In this study two of the 7-QC tools, Ishikawa diagram (also known as Cause and effect diagram or Fishbone diagram) and Pareto analysis have been effectively used and after implementation of the recommendations substantial improvements have been noticed.
