Discussion on Formula of Ultimate Bearing Capacity of RPC Filled Circular Steel Tube Slender Columns

摘要

Based on the experimental study of 12 axially loaded RPC filled circular steel tube slender columns and 4 axially loaded RPC filled circular steel tube stub columns, the applicability of the current methods, which are used to determine the ultimate bearing capacity of CFT columns, to RPC filled steel tube columns is discussed. When the formula for CFT columns was applied to RPC filled steel tube columns, the predicted value is generally higher relative to the experimental data, and its reason was analyzed. Furthermore, a method for calculating the ultimate bearing capacity of RPC filled circular steel tube slender columns is proposed based on the regression of the experimental results of 16 axially loaded RPC filled circular steel tube columns. In comparison with the test results, the calculated ones by the proposed method are in good agreement.
