Feasibility Study of Hybrid Heating System for Automobile Comfort Enhancement

摘要

Global interest in the development of electric automobiles has increased with the strengthening of carbon dioxide emissions policies due to environmental concerns. Accordingly, increasing the market share of electric automobiles is of great interest. It is known that using the air conditioning system significantly decreases the driving miles of electric vehicles. In this study, a numerical analysis was performed to investigate the performance and efficiency of three types of air conditioning systems, to optimize energy consumption and automobile passenger compartment comfort. Results revealed that the optimal system was a hybrid which initially uses hot-air heating, which has good warm-up performance, to rapidly increase the temperature of the passenger compartment, shifting to a more efficient hot-water heating system to maintain temperature with excellent comfort.
