A 55-year-old African-American man with a PSA level of 3.1 ng/mLand a normal DRE has a biopsy and is diagnosed with Gleason 3 + 4 = 7 prostate cancer. He is classified as intermediate-risk and after counselling and careful consideration wishes to pursue curative treatment with one of the evidence-supported methods, surgery or radiotherapy, and desires guidance in making his selection.
