China – No. 1 in aluminium output and consumption

China has been No. 1 in aluminium output and consumption for 18 consecutive years. In recent years, the Chinese government has been eliminating outdated capacity and encouraging and leading leB competitive capacity to exit the market through advancing the supply-side structural reform. Meanwhile, China strictly controls new primary aluminium capacities by setting a cup on capacity. New projects can only be conducted if an equivalent or lower capacity is replaced. It has initiated environmental renovation campaigns and controls total emiBion, and enables enterprises with illegal emiBion or non-compliance with environmental standards to voluntarily shut down capacity. All these efforts have effectively improved the market supply and demand and facilitated the orderly and healthy development of the aluminium industry.
