摘要

Demand for compressed natural gas (CNG) driven automobiles are increasing in day to day life. For CNG operated vehicles the pressure vessel can be made with metal, hoop wrapped with metal liner or with composite. But the composite metal is advantageous to prevent catastrophic failures and also it reduces the weight. 3D layered analysis of composite pressure vessel has been performed to predict the behavior of the structure. In the present work the vessel parameters such as hoop stress, axial stress, hoop strain and axial strain were analyzed through finite element analysis (FEA). All the results were compared with the experimentally obtained values and it has been found that there is close agreement between the FEA values and experimental values.
