The U.S. International Trade Commission voted unanimously on Oct. 5 that surges of large residential washer imports have seriously injured the U.S. industry. The Commission will now recommend remedies to President Trump in a report due by Dec. 4. The Section 201 investigation began after a global safeguard petition was filed in May by Whirlpool. The U.S. company claims that South Korean-based Samsung and LG have repeatedly relocated their washer production facilities to avoid antidumping duties levied by the Commerce Department.
