Azevedo to join Pepsi after leaving the WTO

World Trade Organization Director-General Roberto Azevedo will join PepsiCo, Inc., as executive vice president and chief corporate affairs officer beginning on Sept. 1 - the day after his last with the WTO. Azevedo announced earlier this year that he was stepping down from the WTO, effective at the end of this month. He had one year left in his second term. His impending departure kicked off a race to find his successor, and eight candidates have thrown their hats in the ring. According to the Pepsi announcement, Azevedo's position "brings PepsiCo's Public Policy, Government Affairs, and Communications activities under one umbrella" and "will focus on solidifying PepsiCo's external engagement efforts with national and international governments, regulators, international organizations and non-governmental stakeholders."
