FAO forecasts firm prices for oilseeds,oils,and oilmeals

The Food and Agriculture Organization(FAO)of the United Nations through its Global Information and Early Warning Services said in the June 2004 Food Outlook that the monthly FAO price indices for oils/fats and oilcakes/meals had risen sharply,reaching levels not recorded since 1998 and 1980,respectively(netlink:www.fao.org/giews/ english/index.htm).In addition,prices in the overall oilcrop complex for the marketing season October 2003-September 2004 had been strongly influenced by tight soybean supplies and by slower growth in palm oil production.
