Visualisation and operator interface facilities for a new Greensand casting plant have been provided by a flexible and expandable SCADA system. A new Greensand preparation plant, part of a new casting facility for South African Scaw Metals, has been built by Orthos Projects. The project employs a CitectSCADA system to provide plant visualisation and operator interface. Commenting on its choice of SCADA systems for this project, Alan Piper, project engineer for Orthos Projects, said: "We have used CitectSCADA successfully on several international foundry projects. It is a fast, easy-to-use system. We like the way it enables us to do just what we need to do, even down to data logging, and the way it expands as the requirements of our customers grow. Also, we do not need to purchase development licences for CitectSCADA, which reduces our costs substantially, and helps our clients, who can make changes to their systems without the added cost of a development system."
