Six Lear's Macaws Anodorhynchus leari born in the Loro Parque Foundation's facilities and moved the August before last to Brazil for their reinsertion in nature have already managed to adapt to the harsh conditions of their habitat in the Caatinga andare now flying free in the wild. The parrot, which in 2009 was downlisted on the International Union for the Conservation of Nature's (IUCN) Red List from 'critically endangered' to 'endangered', is one of the most important of any of the Foundation's species.
