Process analyzers now fieldbus suitable - a new PROFIBUS PA profile was developed and implemented

Process analyzers are field devices utilized in the process industry and provide important process information. The growing acceptance of field bus technology in the process industry caused a number of analyzer manufacturers to perform basic development work for analyzer field bus interfacing in a joint project. PROFIBUS was selected as fieldbus and a special analyzer pro file defined, which comprises functionalities of several types of analyzers. The profile is documented as part 7 of PROFIBUS PA 3.0; the first field bus suitable analyzers have been presented at the INTERKAMA 1999 and ACHEMA 2000.
