What follows is the story of the first gold detecting experience of my granddaughter, Elea, and the start of an exceptional season for me.Living in Far North Queensland I managed to get access an area in Cape York that was reasonably close to home as I wasn't willing to spend too much time in an isolated area with a 10-year-old girl, despite the fact she was used to going camping and fishing in remote areas with me.
