摘要

No doubt, most readers of Atlantic Forestry Review have heard of the impending Emerald ash borer (EAB) crises soon to affect Maritime forests. The invasive, Asian-originated beetle (Agrilus planipennis), which has wreaked havoc on native ash species populations throughout central Canada -from Montreal to as far west as Winnipeg - has now been confirmed at several locations in Atlantic Canada, including Edmundston, Oromocto, and Moncton, N.B., and Bedford, N.S. Unfortunately, it is only a matter of time - likely five to 10 years - before the destructive pest makes its way through much of our Maritime forests.
