US gas futures ease on moderate weather

US gas futures fell in March on expectations that milder weather and strong output would lead to large injections into gas storage this spring. Nymex prompt- month prices settled at $2.662/mn Btu on 29 March, down by 15c/mn Btu, or 5.3pc, from 28 February. Prices peaked during the month, settling at $2.884/mn Btu on 5 March, on forecasts for a late-season blast of cold weather, but prices retreated from those highs as temperatures moderated. The US gas market entered its spring shoulder season on 1 April - a period marked by low weather- related demand and the return of gas storage injections.
