US gas prices ease as heating season nears end

?US gas futures fell slightly in February on rising production and the approach of spring, despite forecasts of cold weather. Prompt-month gas prices ended February at $2.812/mn Btu, down by less than 1c/mn Btu from 31 January. Prices reached a settlement peak in that month of $2.855/mn Btu on predictions that colder-than-normal weather would last into March and on a string of large with- drawals from gas storage in the second half of February.
