Argentina’s state-controlled YPF has managed to increase oil and natural gas output at unconventional felds to close to pre-lockdown levels, although conven- tional production is lagging. The recovery is most evident at the frm’s Loma Campana shale oil project, which it operates in a 50:50 joint venture with Chevron. Output at the block had dropped to 27,000 b/d in April from 44,000 b/d in March, before rebounding to 42,000 b/d in July. Only three of the block’s 193 horizontal wells remain closed.
