Crude rises as storms batter Gulf coast

Supply disruptions offset demand concerns as storms continued to pound the US Gulf coast and Opec+ pledged to enforce production restraints,buoying prices.US benchmark WTI rose by more than $2/bl to $39.31/bl in the week to 21 September,while International marker Ice Brent gained $1.83/bl to $41.44/bl.The arrival of Hurricane Sally on 16 September,hard on the heels of Hurricane Laura,caused around 500,000 b/d of offshore production to close.And tropical storm Beta forced the suspension of two deepwater projects in the US Gulf of Mexico.The storm had weakened by 21 September,leaving about 155,000 b/d of production off line.
