Danish frm Helsingor Utilities is targeting a summer start at its 63MW wood chip-fred combined heat and power plant (CHP) in Helsingor, east Denmark, it said. The frm previously said commercial operations would begin in the frst quarter this year , but now plans for the plant to be operating by summer.

The price of timber harvested primarily for wood energy in Estonian state-owned forests reached an eight-year high in the frst quarter of 2019, as timber demand increased across Europe. The average price for fuelwood - typically used to produce wood pellets or wood chips for energy - was €25.36/m~3 across the frst quarter of 2019 on an ex-works basis, according to data from Estonian state forestry association RMK. The price rose by 10.8pc on the month in January 2019, and held broadly steady throughout the quarter. The price was up by 21.5pc on the year, and 26.4pc higher than the seven-year frst-quarter average.
