Tauron sharply lifts 1Q biomass-fred power

Polish state-controlled utility Tauron lifted its biomass-fred power generation to 90GWh in the frst quarter of this year - a more than fourfold increase on the year supported by rising prices for Polish renewable certifcates. The price for Polish renewables certifcates stood at 117.53 zlotys/MWh ($30.62/MWh) on average in the frst quarter - almost double on the year. Biomass-fred power generation capacity accounts for just 2.9pc of Tauron’s 5GW of installed generation capacity, whereas coal-fred plants make up 90pc of the company’s capacity.
