Spanish pulp and bioenergy company Ence’s sales of biomass- fred power grew by 5.6pc in 2019, as upgrade works at its 41MW and 50MW Huelva power plants boosted output. Ence sold 975GWh of biomass-fred power in 2019, compared to 923GWh in 2018. And in the fourth quarter biomass-fred sales grew by 24.5pc on the year to 259GWh. Sales from Ence's 27MW biomass-fred Cordoba plant rose fastest in 2019, increasing by 16.7pc year on year to 196GWh. Sales of biomass-fred energy rose by 8.3pc at its 50MW Huelva plant, 4.7pc at its 41MW Huelva plant and 1.1pc at its 16MW Ciudad Real plant in 2019. But sales decreased by 10.1pc at its 16MW Jaen plant and by 1.5pc at its 20MW Merida plant.
