Canadian retail prices were unchanged at the start of October as liftings slowed near the end of the paving season. Demand was stable in many eastern markets, with contrac- tors busy fnishing projects before cooler temperatures ar- rived. Distributors have sharply reduced prices in recent weeks to capture the remainder of sales volume this season, and to clear higher-than-average inventory levels. Montreal racks were still mostly reported in a wide C$475-525/t range for PG 58S-28, with similar indications for PG 58-28 in Toronto.
