Grandpuits closure further tightens supply

Total's decision to cease oil refning at its 93,000 b/d Grand- puits refnery near Paris will eliminate another 250,000- 300,000 t/yr of bitumen production capacity from the Euro- pean market. With upwards of 1mn t/yr of west European capacity for the heavy road paving product having been shut over the past decade, the Grandpuits closure will further tighten regional supply.
