The US rail sector has not witnessed the full efects of the coronavirus pandemic, but the telltale signs are becoming more evident. US weekly intermodal volume dropped to 232,561 contain- ers and trailers for the week ended on 7 March, down by more than 14pc from the same week a year earlier, Association of American Railroad (AAR) data show. Carload trafc fell to 229,742, down by 3.5pc.
