Twenty five genotypes of Brassica napus were evaluated for ten different quantitative characters, revealed considerable amount of variability for all the characters. Variation at genotypic level was also quite high for most of the traits indicating sufficient scope for selection. The higher range of genotypic and phenotypic variability were estimated for number of secondary branches, seed yield, harvest index and number of primary branches. Moderate estimates of these genetic parameters were recorded for length of main raceme, length of siliqua and test weight. Low range of GCV and PCV were observed for oil content and plant height. Moderate to high heritability in broad sense were expressed by all characters except length of siliqua and test weight. Genetic advance in per cent of mean was high for both number of secondary branches and seed yield per plant and moderate for harvest index, primary branches, number of siliquae on main raceme, length of main raceme, length of siliqua and 1000-seed weight.The lowest genetic gain was observed for oil contant and plant height.
