Due to the stiffness, excellent corrosion resistance and high specific strength of titanium (Ti) and its alloys, the applications have been vastly used in various industries. The major drawback with titanium-based metals is their low wear resistance, which causes problems for applications that are exposed to abrasive and erosion occurrences. This has raised the interest for researchers to use a variety of surface modification methods to enhance Ti surface properties.
