Alumina Prices To Decline Further; Chinese Winter Cuts Fall Short of Last Year’s

As anticipated by HARBOR, Australian alumina spot prices have continued to decline. Australia spot alumina prices are now being quoted at $400 per mton FOB, down 18% or $85 per mton since October, to the lowest level since late March. In China, prices are down 5% since early November to $373 per mton ex-works excluding VAT and have fallen in spite of ongoing alumina production curtailments as a result of "winter cuts" regulations and higher bauxite costs.
