SOCO moves from W Africa to Egypt

SOCO is to pay US $215m to buy producing assets in Egypt as it moves away from its African acreage in Congo Brazzaville and Angola. Private Norwegian firm Coastal Energy promised a fast-track floating development of shallow water Marine IX off Congo B after buying out SOCO earlier this year and it has since also closed a deal to sell its interest in the Cafoinda North block in Angola to domestic firms Quill Trading and WMLC Resources.
