摘要

Wildcatting offshore Africa will shortly start in earnest with a series of wells to be drilled before the end of the year hoping to open new deepwater frontiers in Gambia, Ghana, Namibia and South Africa among others. First up will be Tullow's well on the Cormorant prospect in PEL 37 off Namibia. This has estimated recoverable reserves of 124m bbl of oil in 1,805ft (550m) of water. The UK firm has already spent around US $34m and shot 3,400sq km of new 3D seismic in its Namibian acreage. It has been keen to highlight the prospectivity in its blocks close to HRT's 2013 Wingat well where samples of high quality light sweet crude were recovered.
