Cairn readies October Senegal shallow wildcat

Cairn Energy is now looking at drilling a shallow water exploration well off Senegal in October. The UK company holds the successful SNE discovery in the Sangomar Deep Offshore block but is looking at drilling a well early in the fourth quarter in the neighbouring shallow water Rufisque Offshore block, according to partner Woodside. Esso drilled four wells in the southwest of the acreage in what was then a block called Dakar Marin between 1968 and 1972.
