Nigeria approves Total Ikike contract

The Nigerian authorities have approved the award for the major contract for the shallow water Ikike platform project although operator Total appears to be delaying the final step.As previously revealed by AOG,Total finally proceeded with commercial tenders last November after lengthy delays to what was originally to be a fast-track project.When tenders first appeared in September 2017 the French major said it hoped to lock in low pricing and gain approval before the presidential elections in February.Total split the project into four main contracts: construction of jacket and topside,brownfield modification and integration works,SURF and platform installation and finally the instrumentation and safety control systems.The most expensive of the four was the SURF deal.Four bidders passed the technical evaluation phase: Deltatek,Sapura,Micoperi and Nigerstar 7.Their prices arrived in that order although NNPC was still concerned about the Deltatek offer and went back on several occasions to try and get an extra discount.
