E Guinea opens round including Fortuna gas

Equatorial Guinea officially opened its latest licensing round yesterday offering a total of 26 blocks with one including the Fortuna FLNG project. There are 24 offshore and two onshore blocks available -more than the number currently licensed in a country that has found it difficult to attract investors in recent times. Only six of the blocks offered in the last round headed towards negotiation and four of these are now back on offer with talks having failed. Fortuna, which was previously in Ophir's Block R, is now in renamed EG-27. Other blocks on offer that were taken back for lack of activity are EG-30 (formerly Atlas Petroleum's Block J) and EG-25 (formerly Stare's Block X). These both neighbour Bioko Island as do EG-07,08,12 and 14.
