A development planning which considers the environmental carrying capacity is required in realizing balanced development in the use of natural resources and the prevention of negative impacts on the environment. Solok Regency as one of developing regions should pay attention to itsenvironmental carrying capacity. The objective of this study was to determine the condition of the environmental carrying capacity aspect of land in Solok Regency, West Sumatra. Analysis of land carrying capacity was conducted by comparing supply and demand of the land. The results showedthat the status of land carrying capacity was in conditional sustain, with surplus conditions amounted to 49,527.31 hectares, while the status of the land of each sub-district were: two sub-districts in sustain status, seven sub-districts in conditional sustain status, and five sub-districtsin overshoot status. The future prediction indicates that the land carrying capacity could meet the bio-product needs of the population until the year 2060. The overshoot condition of the land carrying capacity enhanced by increase the land production through intensification of land.
