Bonding and Sealing Engine Oil Pans

In order to reduce vehicle weight, oil pans made of lightweight materials such as aluminium or plastic are increasingly being used in automotive engineering. A new silicon adhesive sealant is now available for their assembly. It was developed jointly by Wacker and Inpro Innovationsgesellschaft and is an advance on the silicone adhesive Elastosil 76540. The new adhesive sealant, which goes under the name Elastosil RT 779, offers improved processing properties, storage stability and resistance to hot engine oil under dynamic loads compared to the predecessor product.
