Highly productive bonding techniques are especially important for industrial manufacturing. One of the main solutions are reactive hot melt adhesives that enable different materials to be bonded and that also exhibit rapid setting features so that work can be continued with no further mechanical fixing. Moisture curing leads to bonds with high chemical and hydrolysis resistance thus enabling them to be used in many challenging applications. Medium-molecular-weight polyester polyols play an important role in adjusting the adhesive properties. Adhesive formulators have an established building block system of amorphous, liquid, and crystalline products from the Dynacoll brand available. By suitable se- lection and targeted combination of several polyesters it is possible, for example, to control application viscosity, open time, and the setting behavior. But also the broad adhesion spectrum and the very good cohesion properties of reactive hot melts are determined largely via the monomer combination of the polyester polyols.
